Manchester City vs Liverpool – Champions League
The first leg of the Champions League quarter-final between Liverpool and Manchester City ended a clear victory for the Reds
They scored three goals in the first half and were able to hold off the Citizens’ reaction to maintain their advantage.
In that meeting happened one of the possibilities that we had left open, that of seeing the team of Jurgen Klopp, through his pressure and ability to quickly exit the offensive transition, surprise the Pep Guardiola team.
The Catalan coach was also sensitive to this situation, trying to prevent the imbalance in which his team could be found, but his strategy did not result, as he was unable, in the second half, to find a way to penetrate, successfully , the Liverpool area.
What we hope to see happen in this second hand is a continuation of the trends observed in the complementary stage of the first game. A Manchester City balanced for the attack, with much more possession, to try to break Liverpool’s resistance.
For the Reds, this will be a sacrificial game, because the most expected is to get absorbed in a mission that has very little to do with your usual game model.
Your only way out to find some oxygen will be through the transition, to get to the goal first.
Manchester City vs Liverpool Prediction
Over the weekend, Liverpool and Manchester City rested some of their starters as the Reds drew 1-1 at Everton and the Citizens suffered a further 2-3 defeat to rivals Manchester United after of having reached the interval to win by two goals without response.
Although there are no negative consequences for his Premier League run, the result may weigh on Citizens’ ability to be confident to tackle a Champions League challenge that can put one of their greatest goals at risk.
