Euro 2021 – tips, predictions & betting odds

Due to the global corona crisis, the participating football associations and nations had no other alternative but to accept a relocation of the major football event and to adopt future planning in accordance with UEFA.

UEFA is planning to reorganize the European football festival from 11 June to 11 July 2021. Even though the European Football Championship is now a year behind and summer 2021 is still far away, more and more bookmakers are setting the first odds for EURO 2021 on their betting surfaces, which is worth taking a closer look at. Euro 2021 Group A: Italy a clear favorite!

Teams: Italy, Turkey, Switzerland, Wales

Location: Stadio Olimpico in Rome (Italy), National Stadium in Baku (Azerbaijan)

In Group A, the Squadra Azzurra clearly stands out and many bookmakers see the four-time world champion and one-time European champion as the group’s top favorites. Unlike in groups C, D, E and F, in which there is still waiting for the playoff winner, all group opponents have already been determined in groups A and B. The favored Italians have to deal with nations like Switzerland, Turkey and Wales. A big factor in the search for the group winner in Group A will be the home games of the Italians, all of which will be played at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

The Italians can lay the foundations for progress in the group in the opening game against Turkey. If everything goes according to plan from the perspective of the football nation, the final match for the group’s first place is in the second match against Switzerland. The third game against Wales should then only be a matter of form for the Italians and their coach Roberto Mancini. The fact that there will be a surprise in this group can almost be ruled out, especially since Italy’s group opponents are forced to play two games in Baku, Azerbaijan and thus have a considerable disadvantage in preparing for the group games compared to Squadra Azzurra. Even if it seems a bit premature to bet on this event, especially since the form and preparation of the teams cannot be considered, this prediction is likely to come true.

Our Euro tip for group A: Italy wins group
Odds: 1.6

Euro 2021 Group B: The group winner can only be called Belgium.

Teams: Belgium, Denmark, Russia, Finland

Location: Telia Parken Stadion Copenhagen (Denmark), Krestovsky Stadium in St. Petersburg (Russia)

Just like in group A, the four participants in group B are completely determined. Belgium, Denmark, Russia and outsiders Finland meet in the two venues Copenhagen and St. Petersburg. The Belgians have impressively demonstrated in the qualification that they are among the candidates for the title contenders at the European Championship. The Red Devils won all ten qualifying games, scoring 40 goals. With an average of 4 goals per game, the back team conceded just 3 goals in the entire qualification, which corresponds to just 0.3 goals per game.

The squad has a huge quality with several top international players. Coach Roberto Martinez is spoiled for choice with players such as Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Thorgan Hazard, Yannick Carrasco, Dries Mertens, Romelu Lukaku, Michy Batshuayi, Youri Tielemans, Alex Witsel, Thibaut Cortois and Simon Mignolet, which is not really a discussion should give about the exit in group B. Denmark has the enormous advantage that all three group matches will be played in Copenhagen, but the quality of “Danish Dynamite” should not be enough to make Belgium, the favorite, the number one.

Russia is also not to be expected in the group that they will play for the group victory, as coach Stanislav Cherchesov has only limited good material available. The Russians are allowed to play twice in front of their home audience in St. Petersburg, but the most important preliminary round game of the “Sbornaja” takes place in Copenhagen against Denmark.

The Finns, who will make their debut in the history of the European Championship, will have absolutely no chance of winning the group. If everything goes perfectly for Finland, the new Euro modes would also make it possible to progress, especially since the four best third-placed teams in a group will find their way into the round of 16.

Our Euro tip for group B: Belgium wins group
Odds: 1.65

Euro 2021 Group C: Elftal without competition!

Teams: Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, (Romania, North Macedonia, Georgia, Belarus, Kosovo)

Location: Johan Cruyff Arena Amsterdam (Netherlands), Arena National Bucharest (Romania)

Regardless of the missing nation in Group C, the Netherlands are the clear favorites for group victory in their group. Bondscoach Ronald Koeman’s team is eager to compete internationally with other teams after missing the European Championship in 2016 and the 2018 World Cup. The hurdle Euro qualification was solved by Oranje this time with flying colors. Of eight appearances in the qualification, the Elftal lost only once, in the 2: 3 home defeat against Germany.

In the second leg against the DFB eleven, the revenge was 4-2, which underpinned the positive trend in the Netherlands impressively. The hope that Holland can get back to the top in the football world rests on the talented generation with players like Frenkie de Jong, Matthijs de Ligt, Memphis Dempay, Donny van den Beek, Donyell Malen or Steven Bergwijn. For some players in the Elftal, including three of those just mentioned, the forced relocation even has something good, because their use by summer 2020 might have been questionable. With a view to the 2021 European Championship preliminary round, the Dutch should not encounter too much resistance, because even extended preparation will not help opponents Austria and Ukraine to improve their outsider position.

In addition, Oranje can play three times in front of the home crowd in the group phase, which is a considerable advantage. Experts and bookmakers currently see the Ukrainian national team in front of the ÖFB team, but for both nations it should really only be a question of qualifying as second in the group behind the Netherlands for the round of 16. A starting place in group C is currently still open. Five teams are fighting over the free space.

Possible candidates would be Romania, who would then even play two games in their capital Bucharest, or the national teams of the countries of North Macedonia, Georgia, Belarus or Kosovo, who will still duel for one of the last four EC tickets in the playoffs.

Our Euro tip for group C: Netherlands is first in the group
Odds: 1.5

Euro 2021 group D: England contender for group victory.

Teams: England, Croatia, Czech Republic, (Scotland, Norway, Serbia, Israel)

Location: Wembley Stadium London (England), Hampden Park Glasgow (Scotland)

With participants like England, Croatia and the Czech Republic, Group D already has some strong European football nations with them. In the playoffs Scotland, Norway, Serbia and Israel apply for the group’s last starting position. The bookmakers’ top favorites for the group win are clearly the English, who, after their convincing European Championship qualification, have even become the absolute European favorite.

In Group D, the Three Lions will meet Croatia in their beloved Wembley Stadium, which should never be underestimated in big tournaments. The home advantage in London could prove decisive in the first European Championship game of the British, there is a second strong team in the group with the Czech Republic. Already in the EURO 2020 qualification, Gareth Southgate’s team met the Czech national team, who were also responsible for the English team’s only defeat in the European Championship qualification. However, the world champion of 1966 does not have to fear from the group opponents, because the squad of the Three Lions is as well staffed as it has been for a long time.

The attack alone is top-class with top stars such as Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford, Tammy Abraham and Jadon Sancho. In addition, a midfield with many young talents such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jesse Lingard, Mason Mount, James Maddison or Callum Hudson-Odoi. With the exception of the game against the Czech Republic, the English shot everything short and small in qualifying. Seven wins, 37 goals scored in eight games (equivalent to 4.63 goals on average), reads the “almost” flawless record of the Southgate team. If the English manage to get this shape in the summer of 2021, they have a promising chance to bring the European Championship title to the United Kingdom for the first time.

Our Euro tip for Group D: England wins the group
Odds: 1.4

Euro 2021 Group E: Spain storms to number 1!

Teams: Spain, Sweden, Poland (Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovakia, Ireland, Northern Ireland)

Location: San Mamés Bilbao (Spain), Aviva Stadium Dublin (Ireland)

The constellation in Group E with Spain, Sweden and Poland already promises great tension without the fourth group participant. The scenario in the group could even refine after the playoffs, with Ireland, Northern Ireland, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Slovakia having four interesting nations on hold.

For the good mood it would certainly be an advantage for the Irish to progress, who, if they qualify, could play twice at Dublin’s Aviva Stadium. Nevertheless, Group Head Spain is the hottest contender for first place in Group E, especially since the Toreros will play three games in the group stage in San Mames, home of the Spanish first division club Athletic Bilbao. After a short private break, Luis Enrique took over the position of the Spanish national coach again in November 2019, who, it seems, can draw from a good mix of young and old to regain the European title after the successes in 1964, 2008 and 2012 to get the Iberian Peninsula.

Nevertheless, “La Furia Roja” should not make the mistake of underestimating its group opponents. Uncomfortable Sweden already defied the Spaniards in the European Championship qualification. In the qualifying second leg, the Scandinavians sniffed a sensation for a long time, which was only prevented by the Spaniard Rodrigo in the second minute of stoppage time. In the end, the Swedes had a 1-1 win against the three-time European champions. The Swedes lost only one game in the qualifying phase. On the fourth matchday of the qualification, Jan Andersson’s team lost 3-0 to Spain in Madrid without chance. The Poles with their striker Robert Lewandowski could also become an unpredictable factor.

Just like the Swedes, the Poles only suffered a single defeat during the entire qualification. In contrast, there are eight wins and a draw. In addition to the dangerous Bayern striker, who contributed six goals to the successful qualification, other Polish international players also showed their excellent skills, including internationally experienced professionals such as Krzysztof Piatek, Arkadiusz Milik and Piotr Zielinski. In addition, Wojciech Szczesny have one of the world’s best goalkeepers in their ranks. Anything other than a group victory for the Spaniards would ultimately be a huge surprise, since the football nation, like at every major tournament, will bring a lot of quality back to the scales at EURO 2021.

Our Euro tip for group E: Spain wins the group
Odds: 1.4

Euro 2021 Group F: France and Germany on par?

Teams: France, Germany, Portugal, (Iceland, Belarus, Romania, Hungary)

Location: Allianz Arena Munich (Germany), Puskas Arena Budapest (Hungary)

Group F can undoubtedly be described as the strongest Euro group. With world champion France, defending champion Portugal and Germany, Group F is directly opposed to three European football powers that will duel to the advantage of the German national team in Munich and in the Hungarian capital Budapest. Germany will play all three preliminary round games in the Allianz Arena. After the disastrous World Cup 2018 in Russia, when Jogi Löw and his men had to go home after the preliminary round, the three group games in Munich provide the perfect backdrop for making reparations.

At the start, the DFB selection immediately meets co-favorite France, who, after world champions coach Didier Deschamps, strive for the third European Championship title after 1984 and 2000. The classic between Germany and France will probably be decisive for the later group victory, because even if one should not underestimate the reigning EURO champion, it can be assumed that Portugal will only play a subordinate role in group F.

Because the four best third-placed qualify for the round of 16 in the Euro 2021 mode, it would be quite conceivable that all three footballing nations will prevail in Group F. Incidentally, none of the three nations came harmless from the Euro qualification. France, Portugal and Germany each suffered a defeat in their eight and ten appearances in the European Championship qualifiers.

In the playoffs, however, the fourth team from group F is still looking for, who may end up tipping the scales. Possible group opponents of the French, Portuguese and Germans are Iceland, Hungary, Belarus and Romania. The home advantage will play a huge part in the cards for the German national team, who will of course speculate as a possible group winner to face a supposedly easier opponent in the round of 16.

Our Euro 2020 tip for group F: Germany becomes group winner
Odds: 2.25

Euro 2021 long-term betting: England and Belgium are the top favorites for the title, bookmakers see Harry Kane as the best scorer.

In the run-up to a major sporting event such as the European Football Championship, it is always a lot of fun to discuss which team could have the best chance of winning the title. Due to the long uncertainty, making an accurate prediction and determining the exact winner of the tournament is a tough test for the most die-hard football fan and even for the experts.

Even if the football highlight is still a long way off, more and more bookmakers are devoting their attention to the EURO 2021 and with their early-set odds set the direction in which the football festival could go. We will tell you which bookmakers are already preparing extensively for the Euro 2021 and which tips the betting providers have on offer.

In addition to the bets already presented on the group winners of the individual groups, the prediction of the upcoming title holder must of course not be missing. There are also tips on the best European champions, the best player in the competition, who will reach the semi-finals / finals, the best youth player of the tournament and the best scorers of the participating teams. We would like to briefly discuss the most popular long-term tips for you:

Who will be European champions in 2021?

We are looking for Portugal’s successor, who surprisingly beat hosts France in the final in 2016. At the Stade de France in Paris, Cristiano Ronaldo and his compatriots defeated the French 1-0 and thus won Portugal’s first major title on the international stage.

The bet on the next European champion should not be missing from a bookmaker’s offer. Many betting providers are already offering the tip in the form of a long-term bet. England, Belgium are the top favorites among bookmakers (as of April 16, 2020), followed closely by competitor France. With a correct prediction of one of the two title contenders, the money could currently be increased sixfold. Germany and the Netherlands (8.00 each), Spain (9.0) and Italy (12.0) also belong to the expanded circle of favorites. The successful defense of the title would currently give the odd 17.00 with a tip on Portugal.

Who will be top scorer in the 2021 European Championship?

The Frenchman Antoine Griezmann made an exclamation mark with six goals at the 2016 European Championship and ultimately secured the top scorer with a large margin. Competitors such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale, Alvaro Morate and compatriot Olivier Giroud left the Frenchman, who has now stormed for Barca, three goals behind. The small French star is also available for the upcoming European Championship, but the bookmaker World Cup top scorer Harry Kane clearly gives the best chance of scoring the goal.

In addition to the English of Tottenham Hotspur, the betting providers see the best chances with Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku, Kylian Mbappe, Timo Werner, Memphis Depay or Serge Gnabry. In our opinion, Leroy Sane could become an absolute insider tip. It’s easy to imagine that the long-injured ManCity striker will regain his top form by the summer of 2021 and will be chasing goals for Germany at the Euro 2021.
